Montgomery & Interpreter, PLC is a member of the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) and assists clients in all aspects of renewable energy policy and development on private, public and tribal lands. We help our clients formulate and implement renewable energy policies that fit their unique circumstances and assist them to structure and manage their renewable energy projects in a cost effective manner.

We can provide innovative and tailored strategies for tribal governments, commercial interests and interested stakeholders in all areas of renewable energy, from feasibility through project commissioning to operations and maintenance.

Because of our history working in Indian Country, our Government Relations team is able to assist our clients with renewable energy adoption – both on and off the reservation. We are familiar with the requirements of tribal law and understand the unique political and cultural backdrop that exists in Indian Country – an awareness that can be crucial when renewable energy projects touch and concern tribal interests or lands.

Specific areas of project related work include:

  • Identifying generating and siting resources for possible projects
  • Assessing viability of projects, based on power demand, siting, interconnect options, partnering options, financing and estimated costs.
  • Commissioning load and transmission studies
  • Commissioning preliminary engineering studies
  • Identifying potential off-takers for PPA agreements
  • Securing all necessary permits, licenses and approvals
  • Negotiating transmission and PPA agreements
  • Negotiating necessary financial commitments
  • Negotiating EPC contracts
  • Negotiating O&M contracts

Our Government Relations team has substantial in-house experience with photovoltaic technology, financial incentives for renewable energy, project finance, monetization of tax credits, feed-in-tariffs and net metering policy. We also provide policy advocacy for our clients seeking to advance changes to public policy in these areas.
